The Department of Physics is looking to appoint a Research Associate in nanophotonics, specifically working in the areas of random lasing, biolasing, and lasing from nanostructured media. The work will involve sample fabrication, optical measurements and lasing modeling. The applicant should have experience in nano-lasing and/or random lasing, light generation in nanophotonic materials, light transport in complex media and he/she should be familiar with nanophotonics, material science of biopolymers, optical fluorescence microscopy, fluorescence sensing. The role of the post holder in the team will be to lead the experimental study of random lasing in biocompatible materials. He/She will also contribute to the wider research effort of the group, especially in complex nanophotonics, and will support the experimental work of Ph.D. students. In addition to acquiring new knowledge and skills by conducting nano-photonics research, within the research group and the department there is a strong ethos of academic support for postdoctoral career development.

The job will be located on the Strand Campus.
