Research Fellow in Metals Analysis and Bioimaging
Grade 7, £40,523 - £48,327 per annum
plus £2,623 London Allowance
We are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Research Fellow to play a central role in developing and maintaining the new ‘London Metallomics Facility’. This facility is funded by the Wellcome Trust and this role will be crucial in providing scientific support and also networking and promoting the centre.
The post holder will supporting and advising users in sample preparation for trace metal analysis in environmental and biological samples, as well as aiding in the development and validation of analytical methodologies to support the needs of end users, using a variety of analytical techniques including: inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS, with and without interface to laser ablation (LA) instrumentation), X-ray fluorescence (XRF) measurements, secondary ion mass spectrometry (nano-SIMS) , as well as new analytical platforms supporting the work of the facility.
The position will involve maintaining and developing contacts with electron microscopy units at both King’s and Imperial Colleges, the Nikon Imaging Centre at the Randall Institute and the newly established Wellcome Trust/EPSRC Centre for Imaging. The role will be a basis for first- and senior author publications on the development of innovative methodologies in this field as well as co-authoring user-led publications.
The selection process will include competency based questions, a presentation and a panel interview.
This post will be a fixed term contract for 4 years.
This is a full-time post (100% full time equivalent).
