Lecturer in Political Economy of Inclusive Development (Education)

The Lecturer will contribute to teaching, marking, dissertation supervision and academic support of students on the BA and MSc programmes in in the Department of International Development. You will contribute to the strengthening of teaching in Inclusive Development across BA and PGT courses, bringing expertise in inequalities and the political economy of economic development to this area. Tasks may also include pastoral care, leading seminars, as well as developing or updating KEATS (moodle) pages and content for modules, and working with the library to ensure the key readings for the module are available. This is an early career post and there will be some opportunity out of term time to work on scholarship and publication outputs within the overall departmental strategy.

The successful candidate will be an excellent and innovative teacher who holds a PhD related to the political economy of international development and its applications in middle income countries. You will have expertise in one or more of the following areas: income inequality, economic growth and/or structural change.

DID’s novel programmes focus on the economic, political and social development challenges faced by middle income and emerging economy countries, and introduce students to key debates and questions about the changing contemporary world. We have over 300 students from 50 countries and the post offers an excellent opportunity to gain or consolidate experience in a dynamic interdisciplinary development studies department. The post will suit candidates who are versatile, who are highly committed to teaching and learning, and who are able to work with and across a range of subject matters.

The selection process will include a short presentation, interview and assessment of application. It is anticipated that interviews will be held on Friday 17th August, with a view to starting in post in mid -September 2018”
