The post holder will work as a Research Associate/Developer on the EU FP7 project PERICLES (“Promoting and Enhancing Reuse of Information throughout the Content Lifecycle taking account of Evolving Semantics”), contributing to a range of the research activities of the project, and working closely with research staff at King’s and at partner institutions.

The post is in the Centre for e-Research, part of the Department Digital Humanities, which undertakes a wide range of collaborative research projects across King’s, as well as with other UK universities, with European institutions, and internationally with HE library and research institutes.

The post-holder will work under the supervision of the PERICLES coordinator to:

• Undertake high-quality research with regard to digital preservation models, approaches and tools, in line with the project objectives
• Undertake analysis, design, development and testing of software components and tools providing digital preservation and related functionality, including data analytics.
• Deliver high-quality project deliverables in accordance with the project plan.
• Deliver specific pieces of work to an agreed timeline
• Contribute to the broader aims and objectives of PERICLES by participating in meetings, workshops and conferences, and writing reports and publications.
• Evaluate the solutions developed with potential end users and other stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
• be educated to graduate level.
• have demonstrable research skills in an area of applied computing or information science (e.g. digital preservation, semantic web, machine learning, data analytics, information retrieval).
• possess software development skills (e.g. Java, Python) and knowledge of a range of computing technologies of relevance to preservation systems, e.g. XML, databases, web services.
